HP has added an entry-priced, easy-to-deploy enterprise management solution to its client management portfolio. HP OpenView Client Configuration Manager offers an integrated solution for managing software in enterprise environments, including integrated inventory collection, software distribution, and patch management. An installation wizard allows the product to be deployed with minimal training or consulting costs. Customers can upgrade to other fully featured solutions in the HP OpenView Configuration Management portfolio as their needs grow and evolve. Estimated street pricing for HP OpenView Client Configuration Manager is $25 per seat license, including a year of free telephone support and product updates. The product is expected to be available in October.

Nsite (Profile, Products, Articles) launches Process Builder feature for SOX compliance

Nsite on Monday announced a new feature that helps sales and service organizations more easily comply with regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX). Nsite Process Builder is an enhancement to Nsite's Predictive Routing Engine that provides a self-service way to pre-define business rules that impact revenue cycle-related sales processes. Process Builder lets organizations easily adapt to changes in the business processes and comply with complex and ever-changing compliance requirements. Nsite also offers a reporting tool for auditing process flow throughout the enterprise. Nsite is delivered as a subscription-based service via the Web and hosted by IBM (Profile, Products, Articles)

Tenebril (Profile, Products, Articles) releases anti-spyware solution

Tenebril on Monday announced SpyCatcher Enterprise, a spyware solution that protects enterprise computers from hyper-mutating and custom-coded spyware. SpyCatcher Enterprise provides continuous, proactive protection using the Tenebril Spyware Profiling Engine, a new approach to combating spyware that incorporates contextual analysis to detect a wide range of spyware, even when embedded deeply in the operating system. In addition, SpyCatcher Enterprise provides the ability to recover even highly-infected PCs, automating and simplifying the removal process and preventing computers from being inadvertently compromised. SpyCatcher Enterprise is available immediately priced starting at $25 per seat. Volume discounts are available.

Oracle (Profile, Products, Articles) postpones opening office in Kenya

Oracle has postponed the opening of a regional office in Nairobi, Kenya, according to Khalil Hindwan of the company's African operations. The office was supposed to open this month, but when it will open is unknown. The company has given no reason for the postponement. The office is to serve 20 eastern and southern African countries as well as the Indian Ocean islands, including Botswana, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Malawi, Angola, Seychelles, Madagascar, and Mauritius. Last month, Oracle Senior Director for Application and Industry Marketing for Europe, Middle East, and Africa Anthony Peake announced the Kenyan office plans.

American Express takes on traveler security

American Express Business Travel announced it has enhanced its traveler security programs by offering TrackPoint, a Web-based global security solution. TrackPoint is designed to help managers quickly locate business travelers when unexpected events and crises occur, such as severe weather or terrorist acts. TrackPoint, a component of the American Express @Work reporting suite, uses an intuitive graphical user interface to let users quickly drill down to the country, state/province, and city level, aiding in decision-making when crises occur. TrackPoint updates traveler information every four to six hours, ensuring that evolving itineraries are reflected. By allowing users to view travel data eight days prior to the travel start date, TrackPoint also improves pre-travel planning and analysis. TrackPoint will be offered to the company's U.S.-based clients and made available globally over the coming months.

Borland helps software developers better manage change

Borland Software (Profile, Products, Articles) has unveiled a free, online self-assessment tool designed to help organizations manage change that occurs in the software process. Borland's solution addresses three types of change impacting development teams: requirements change, process and methodology change, and technology change. The company also offers workshops and other resources that are aimed at helping organizations better mange change and reduce risk in the software delivery process.

ASNA Monarch offers road to SOAs for iSeries users

ASNA (Amalgamated Software of North America) announced a new version of its Monarch suite that makes it easier for businesses to extend or migrate RPG-based IBM iSeries/i5 applications and data into Microsoft's (Profile, Products, Articles) .Net for integration into service-oriented architectures (SOAs) and Web services. Monarch, introduced in the fall of 2004, lets developers migrate RPG-coded "green-screen" applications to browser-based applications in .Net. No Java, C++, or C# code is generated, making it maintainable by existing RPG programmers. Monarch also allows the modernized apps to seamlessly communicate with iSeries/i5 and SQL Server databases. Monarch 2.0 offers new application segmentation capabilities, higher levels of printing support, object grouping, and an expanded framework that supports third-party controls.
