StrongMailunveilse-mail application server
StrongMail systems is rolling out version 3.0 of its e-mail application server this week, designed to ease message management and boost performance. StrongMail Release 3.0 renders e-mail delivery rates visible through various reports showing whether messages are delivered, to which part of a recipient’s inbox they went, details of failures such as if an ISP denied an e-mail, and the steps needed to fix any problems. Release 3.0 also adds a Live Update feature for automated, continual compliance with ever-changing spam-filtering and ISP standards. Improved bounced-message management and e-mail delivery tools such as virtual routing, adaptive message queuing, and domain controls are also new in Version 3.0.

Motion upgrades slate PC
Motion Computing took the wraps off of its LS800 tablet PC earlier this month, a slate computer the company describes as approximately the size of a paperback book. The latest iteration runs Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, features an 8.4-inch display, is less than an inch thick, and tips the scales at 2.2 pounds. In its basic configuration, the LS800 houses 512MB of 400MHz DDRII memory, a 60GB 1.8-inch hard drive, and Intel’s Centrino.

Cittio boosts WatchTower
Partnering with Safari Books Online, Cittio will embed links to Safari’s electronic reference library of online technical books into its WatchTower network-monitoring software. When WatchTower reports a network event to a technician, it will include relevant information on how to approach a problem. Using this method, a network event not only comes with a time-stamp, a description of and information about the origin of the problem, but it also provides researched content describing how to address the issue.

The latest version of InterScan Web Security Suite now includes Damage Cleanup Services, which can initiate a cleanup of affected clients, eradicating resident spyware. The new version also blocks outbound “phone home” communications at the Internet gateway to protect against phishing attacks.
