ManageSoft refreshes desktop management tool
ManageSoft last week debuted ManageSoft Refresh, software designed to use a zero-touch process for automating tasks associated
with replacing hundreds of older PCs and upgrading software. ManageSoft Refresh ensures that corporate users have the correct
software installed on their machines and that the software is properly configured. The product makes sure that each desktop
conforms to the standards that a company’s IT department has laid down for license and security compliance, and it provides
users the capability to order new or replacement PCs through a portal. When a new PC arrives, ManageSoft automatically installs
the appropriate applications and migrates the user’s data and personal settings to the new system. Pricing starts at $50 a
seat.

with enhanced reporting capabilities, support for IBM’s BladeCenter, and a new Open Modeling Framework that incorporates a
modular design to ease integration with other frameworks and applications. New reporting capabilities include built-in and
user-customizable reports. Support for IBM’s BladeCenter means users can access an inventory list of BladeCenter components.
The Open Modeling Framework module is for Cisco’s CallManager VoIP software.

Macrovision automates software delivery
Macrovision last week delivered the FlexNet Publisher Installation Module, designed to cut down the manual effort needed
to install and configure solutions comprising applications, operating systems, databases, and middleware. In addition to reducing
the time and costs associated with multiproduct installations and managing dependencies among components, the FlexNet Publisher
Installation Module can also improve user productivity through its installation capabilities, thereby decreasing the time
needed to recoup the benefits of the investment.
