The MPC DataFrame 310fc consists of a single shelf with 14 72GB Ultra320 drives totaling just under 1TB addressable storage.
The unit also featured redundant RAID controllers, power supplies, I/O modules, and fans.
The DataFrame 310fc was placed on a SAN fabric switched by a McData 24-port 2GB FC (Fibre Channel) switch, and the array was
driven from an HP ProLiant ML370 with dual P4 2.8GHz Xeon processors and 1GB of RAM. The array was accessed with a Qlogic
QLA2312 FC HBA.
Testing was performed on an NTFS with SiSoftware's Sandra 2003 and IOMeter on Windows Enterprise Server 2003, and tested on
an ext3 file system with bonnie++ on Red Hat Linux Advanced Server 2.1. The array was configured with several logical drives
in an assortment of sizes and RAID levels. Throughput testing was performed with arrays in an optimal state and with a failed
drive, as well as during the array rebuild process following a drive returning from failed status.
All configurations were implemented with several Web browsers on Windows and Linux, specifically Internet Explorer 6 and Mozilla
1.3.1.
