ATTEMPTING TO IMPROVE workflow between applications, Optika on Tuesday added Web services standards support and new application
integration capabilities to its software for managing content, imaging, and workflow processes throughout the enterprise.
Version 3.0 of Acorde gains support for SOAP and WSDL, which helps ease integration and lets system integrators workflow-enable
existing business applications, according to Dru Anne Walz, director of product marketing at Optika, based in Colorado Springs,
Colo.
"By providing SOAP and XML layers ... something that might have taken months of integration time now only takes weeks,"
she said.
Web services support also helps improve communication around workflow by allowing workers to more easily locate work within
a business process, participate in the workflow, and update information, according to Walz.
Other enhancements in Acorde 3.0 include a full text search module designed to let users simultaneously search both the
metadata and the content of documents within the Acorde repository. This capability means that users do not have to know how
a particular document was indexed in order to search or retrieve it.
Looking to bolstering integration with ERP applications, Version 3.0 includes new integration capabilities for Microsoft
Business Solutions and Oracle E-business Suite. For Microsoft, new features include search, update, and populate functionality,
while Oracle E-Business Suite gains workflow and a new user interface integrated into the Oracle application.
