IDG's InfoWorld Media Group Joins Forces with OSTG
to Launch Enterprise-Focused IT Product Guide
Two Powerhouse Technology Media Groups Partner to Produce
The Definitive IT Product Guide for Enterprise Technology Buyers
Fremont, CA, and San Francisco, CA, September 21, 2004 -- IDG's InfoWorld Media Group, the premier enterprise IT print and online magazine, and OSTG (Open Source Technology Group), the top-ranked technology network for IT and development professionals and a subsidiary of VA Software Corp. (NASDAQ: LNUX), have announced the beta launch of the IT Product Guide, the definitive online tool for enterprise-level technology buyers.
Co-produced by InfoWorld and OSTG, the site delivers an unbiased, independent, and critical look at technology-focused products and services for IT buyers. The IT Product Guide, hosted on InfoWorld.com and OSTG's ITManagersJournal.com, provides more than 230 in-depth InfoWorld Test Center reviews, specifications, user/buyer reviews, related articles, company data, and buying information for enterprise and business-grade IT products. Through the combined testing prowess and editorial strength of InfoWorld and the audience reach and community-focus of OSTG, the IT Product Guide delivers a rich source of information to active IT buyers.
"This strategic initiative combines the best of InfoWorld and OSTG by delivering a quality decision tool - the IT Product Guide - to the IT community," says Kevin McKean, CEO and editorial director of InfoWorld. "IT decision makers and buyers increasingly turn to the Web for credible, tested product evaluation. This new site serves as the quintessential tool for the enterprise market, as well as the de-facto destination for anyone making strategic buying decisions."
The brainchild for the IT Product Guide stems from the InfoWorld Test Center, renowned for its 15 years of objective and in-depth testing of enterprise technology products and services. By extending the InfoWorld Test Center reviews to the IT Product Guide, IT professionals can now access a one-stop resource that allows them to view Test Center reviews, search for specific products, read user reviews and news articles, and get direct purchasing information all in one place. Buyer reviews, as well as
additional product review submissions, will be driven from the large community-focused audience on OSTG's IT sites, including Slashdot, SourceForge.net, Linux.com, ITManagersJournal.com, and NewsForge.com. Both networks will feature integrated editorial links and multiple entry points to drive the combined audiences to the IT Product Guide.
