Testing took place at the University of Florida’s Network Services Interoperability Lab, part of the University of Florida’s Office of Information Technology, in Gainesville, Fla. Thanks to Jordan Wiens, network security engineer at the University of Florida, for his assistance with all phases of setup and testing.
Both vulnerability assessment products were connected via 100-BaseT to a span port on a Cisco 6509 router within the UF production network. Several Class C networks were available for scanning, each containing a wide variety of infrastructure components, servers, and clients.
Assessment scanning engine software was deployed on a rack-mount 1U server with dual 2GHz Intel Xeon processors and 2GB of RAM.
